Format e-Aadhaar for A4 Printing — Free Online Tool

The e-Aadhaar PDF from UIDAI's website is formatted for digital reading, not for cutting to wallet-size card dimensions. Ashwheel's free Aadhaar card formatter solves this by automatically cropping and scaling the Aadhaar card faces to fit correctly on an A4 sheet — ready to print, cut, and carry in your wallet or laminate as a PVC card replacement.

Why Format Aadhaar for Printing?

The standard e-Aadhaar PDF is an A4-sized document where the card graphic takes up only a portion of the page. If you print this directly and try to cut out the card, the proportions won't match a standard PVC card wallet slot. The formatter scales the card front and back to precise wallet-card dimensions and places them on an A4 sheet with proper margins, so cutting produces the right size card.

How the Aadhaar Formatter Works

Download your e-Aadhaar from the UIDAI website (m.aadhaar.uidai.gov.in or resident.uidai.gov.in). Upload the PDF here. The tool reads each page, identifies and crops the card area, scales it to 85.6mm × 54mm (standard credit card / PVC card dimensions), and arranges both front and back on a single A4 sheet. Download the formatted PDF, print it, and cut along the card outline.

  • Browser-based — your Aadhaar PDF never leaves your device
  • Works with both regular and masked Aadhaar
  • Preserves QR code quality
  • Free, no account required
  • PDF and image download options

Printing Tips for Best Results

For the best card quality, print at 100% scale (disable "fit to page" in your print dialog). Use the highest quality print setting available. Photo paper gives a more durable result than standard printer paper. If laminating, use a card-laminating pouch rather than a regular A4 laminate for the correct thickness. After laminating, cut with a sharp craft knife along a metal ruler for clean edges.

Aadhaar Card vs. e-Aadhaar — What's Acceptable?

UIDAI's guidelines state that a printed e-Aadhaar is a valid proof of identity equivalent to the physical Aadhaar card issued by post. A formatted and printed e-Aadhaar is acceptable at banks, airports, government offices, and other institutions. However, some private entities may still prefer the physical card. Laminating your printed e-Aadhaar increases its durability and professional appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this to print my Aadhaar card?+

Download your e-Aadhaar PDF from UIDAI, upload it here, and the tool formats it for A4 printing at PVC card dimensions. Print on a standard printer, cut out, and optionally laminate.

Is my Aadhaar data safe?+

Yes. The tool processes the PDF entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your Aadhaar PDF and its contents never leave your device or get uploaded to any server.

Can I print this on regular paper?+

Yes, you can print on regular A4 paper. For a more durable card, print on photo paper or have a print shop laminate it after cutting.

Will the QR code on the Aadhaar card still be scannable?+

Yes. The QR code is preserved and scaled proportionally. Make sure to print at 100% scale (not 'fit to page') for accurate QR code sizing.

Does this work with the masked Aadhaar PDF?+

Yes. Both regular and masked (last 8 digits hidden) e-Aadhaar PDFs work with the formatter.
